Amigurumi

A couple of years ago, I surprised myself in mastering the basics of amigurumi by following a few YouTube videos!  Although I enjoy embroidery and sewing, knitting is not really my thing.  However, I kept seeing cute amigurumi figures everywhere and I had to give it a go.   I was pleased to find of course that it involves mainly crochet, not knitting as I had imagined.

Here are the characters I have made so far, in order of creation(!), together with links ..

YouTube:Naztazia's Basic Beginner Smiley Face
My first one - I was very proud!!

~ with frizzy hair!
Limbs went a bit spindly here, but I think I mastered the frizzing technique quite well!

Blob Bunny from Cutesycrochet

This is Blob Bunny Preston who went to live in hubby's office!

Sailor Octopus from YarnYard
Otherwise known as 'Octospider' by my son.  He is chunkier than intended, I didn't think the size of crochet hook would make that much difference..

Teddy Eddy from AmigurumiBB
I am rather fond of this little one

This was following a request from my daughter.   I think I based it on a picture I found online, then adapted the basic smiley face to make the plant pot.

Spring Bunny from Makezine.com
I like using material for the inner ears, but maybe I should have hemmed it - it will probably fray eventually! (Is it bad that I had to look up how to spell 'fray'?!)

Spring Bunny with floppy ears

Cute bee from Favecrafts.com
Another favourite

Snoopy from BearBuns Studio
Was pleased with this.  I chose to make him because I know Taeyang likes Snoopy.  So I made him together with the heart below, posted it on Instagram, tagged Taeyang and waited for him to notice.. I am still waiting haha!!

Giant Heart from Swallow's Creative Corner
                                                                              (text is optional!)

Cute Zebra from Olena's Crafts
Another request from my daughter.  An opportunity to do some more hair frizzing!

Baby Owl from littlemuggles.com
It was suggested that I make a bigger one of these for a local bird sanctuary to raffle.  I still have this in mind to do.

Adventure Time Jake from supermiau.com
Jake was another request from my son - Adventure Time is a still firm favourite with both offspring.

Giraffe from ilovbuttonslovemma
Here we have Clive, who has 'featured' previously on my blog!  I wanted a bit more of a challenge and the regular changing of colours was certainly that.  He took longer than anticipated to make, but everyone loves Clive!

Sweetheart Bunny from allaboutami
An extra little birthday surprise for my daughter.  She likes pink, so I added the bow.

Looking forward to my next ami project..  haven't decided who to make yet, but I'll keep you in the loop!

you like my toadstool hook holder?!

15th August 2015 ~ hmmm... note to self .. find the pattern before promising to make one!  As we are making our way through all the Harry Potter films at the moment, I thought I would make Hedwig and Dobby for my ever young-at-heart teenagers.   I have found a pattern for Hedwig but it's going to be very small.  I'll have to change it as I go.. why do I make these sweeping promises without
doing the research first??!

 20th August 2015 ~ Upate on Hedwig!

Haven't really got very far!
