Random Anxieties!

Hello.  Well my throat is improving ~ I omitted to tell you yesterday that during the wolfing down of a tuna-toastie and crisps, I felt  a sharp sensation in the throat.  It didn't take me long to be convinced there was a fishbone stuck and rang Hubby.  He told me it was more likely that I had scratched the throat with a crisp.  The piece of bread that he suggested I eat seemed to descend without problem,  but that did not mean I didn't worry for the rest of the day.

Obviously my mind was still creating the worst possible fishbone scenario at bedtime.. when I woke this morning I found that I had plugged in my electric hair straighteners instead of daughter's mobile phone charger.  Hubby does not need to know how hot the surface of my dressing table had become...

Today there is a dress rehearsal/performance of the school play to be performed at a  theatre this weekend (hence school trip as previously mentioned).  Rather bothered that son is not going to be attending the rehearsal, due to his return home from the school bus stop this morning feeling unwell. (Although I was pleased to hear of his healthy lunch the other day,  I did wonder whether that quantity of plums was a wise idea.)

Possibly Paranormal!?!

Another little known down-side to living near someone who feeds the seagulls, is the fright one gets when the said seagulls begin demanding food from the wrong house.  My heart took a while to recover this morning from the impatient pecks on the bathroom window.  At least I hope that's what the knocking was.  I have lost count of the times I have 'checked out' a noise in the house recently when everyone else is out.  We have a printer in the room next to the living room.  A number of times I have been convinced that the printer was preparing to print, although there was nothing pending and in fact the printer was not even switched on.  When I see the neighbour next time I will ask whether he himself has a printer in the adjoining room.  This is not the person who feeds the seagulls you understand.  The other day, items on my dressing table seemed to be not quite in the position I left them, or would have left them. It is very housework-hindering to get the heegee-beegees in the middle of the day.  My excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Rock Painting

I've also tried a bit of pebble painting.  Not hugely brain-taxing, but very relaxing .. so why not?!  Here are a couple I've done with very simple designs.

More Amigurumi

Hi, after yesterday's gardening extravaganza I have not done much!  Here are some more amigurumi creations I made earlier in the year.

Sunshine

Hello, well the weather here today has been really nice.  Bright sunshine, bit of a breeze but not too cold.  Hubby was helping Suzie with some exam revision, so her brother Dan was without his companion for a while.  Having no siblings myself, it is wonderful to witness the unwavering connection between the two children.  Growing up I was quite happy being the only one.  However, as the years have progressed, I guess it would be nice to have someone to remind me of childhood times that perhaps I have forgotten.  Anyway so Dan said he would sit outside and read his new book. After sorting the washing, I went out to see him as I had promised to do.  It was so nice out there, but the weeds needed sorting..

I have been gardening.  Actually, every year around now  I give the ground a good tidy up, weeding and sifting, in readiness for some plants.  Last year was not successful.. after exhausting myself completely trying to complete it all in one day, I found a large box of seeds.  Oh it was a very pretty picture on the front and many different flowers were 'promised'.  So I thought I would give it a go.  I had a wonderful bloom of weeds.. more weeds than I had taken out I am sure.  Egg was not happy, and Egg will not be doing that again.  At the side of the main area of ground, we have a corner of old chimney pots and other containers.  It has been my wish since we moved here to have a rainbow of colourful plants cascading down from the higher pots!  Haven't quite succeeded with this, but I plan to purchase some aubretia plants this year and give it another go.  I am afraid I am a fair-weather gardener.  The first warmth of sunshine in April gets me out there preparing and planting, and until about August I am quite happy to go backwards and forwards with the watering can.  Then we get the colder, wetter weather and that's it.  I'm done.  I suppose I should read up on which plants do better in certain earth and when to plant them for the best etc etc but that's not me.  I just like to have pretty flowers to look at when it's nice enough to sit out.  No flowers yet, but here's a couple of guys I saw today..

Cutie found underneath last year's legacy of weeds

We were startled when this fine character decided to abseil down from the roof.  Cannot believe his shell was still intact after impacting with the window-sill at a rate of knots

Golf Club Lunch

A quick pic taken of the golf course
Hi, the Birthday lunch at the Golf Club for hubby's Mum was very pleasant.  I wish I had taken a pic of the toffee cheesecake.  It was an amazingly huge portion!  I will be facing away from the Wii Fit screen again this week - hubby and I are monitoring our weight every Sunday to keep it in check.   For the last 3 weeks although I want it recorded, I refuse to look!! I had done so well since New Year.  Must get back on track this week.  But yes, very pleasant outing and nice for us all to get dressed up a little smarter than usual... although my toe is a lot happier now we are home, and the sloppy slippers are back on!

South Korea

With my love of Taeyang came a genuine interest in South Korea.. and the best penpal ever.. Audrey. (Koreans sometimes use the nearest equivalent English-sounding name to their Korean name) We exchange emails most days, it would be wonderful to visit her one day.  I have tried to learn Korean online, but haven't quite found the best site for me. I know Audrey would help in any way she could, but at the moment I'm not sure what to ask. She is doing so well with her English studies, I must make more of an effort to progress with Korean.

Taeyang

Saranghaeyo Taeyang!
And here He is.  South Korean, Worldwide Unbeatable Artistic Perfection.  Taeyang.  My family have accepted that they will no longer understand the song lyrics during car rides, that they must be silent when I compose my response to his Instagram updates, that they will be given a running commentary of his public activities and tour arrangements, that they must appreciate his bond with GD and that - although I am wife and mother - I am 'forever VIP', although possibly slightly out of the normal fandom age range! His songs, along with those of his group 'BigBang' are the soundtrack to my life.  His voice, together with his amazing dancing ability and endearing personality, secures his place across nearly 6,000 miles, in my non-South Korean heart. He's just gorgeous!

Home

Home is a 5minute walk from the beach
My speck in life has always been next to the sea, in the same little seaside village.  I took this pic last summer.  I love living here and don't think I would be happy away from the sea.  My car would be cleaner of course, without the seagulls, but hubby's handy with the bucket so it's not a huge bother..

Sewing

Lovely Friday at last!  Well the toe is still sore and I haven't yet attempted shoes.  Tomorrow it is hubby's Mum's birthday.  A lunchtime meal is booked at a local Golf Club.  No jeans allowed, so I'm guessing to turn up in sloppy slippers isn't an option.  I shall see which of my other limited footwear gives least pain..

This morning, a request from hubby to shorten a T-shirt brought my sewing machine out of hibernation.  I presume he intends to wear his Liberty garb whilst flying his quad, given the reference to "Launch Support".  I hope he appreciates my work - pressing the footpedal with my sore foot was lots of fun. Not! He can repay me with hair-playing time..

Sweetheart

And here is Lola, pretty lady.

Big Bunny

This is Truff.. looking like a big grumpy bunny.  He is big, but he's not grumpy.  Unless you approach Lola without asking...

Clumsy Egg

Hello, my Thursday began well.  I had high hopes for a productive day.  I even made a list of tasks to have the pleasure of ticking off when completed.  I began with the kitchen.  Window open to give the neighbours their dose of  K-pop. (Too old to love Taeyang, too young and devoted to stop!)  Happy with the kitchen, I migrated into the 'back-room' to clean the rabbits.  We have two, Truffle and Lola.  Truffle is a giant continental and Lola is a normal sized lop-ear.  Truffle was planned, chosen and obtained from a breeder.  Lola was a moment of weakness in the orphan section of the pet shop.  Both are adored equally.  After the initial concern of "will they get along", we came to realise that any contact with Lola has to be run by Truffle first. She belongs to him.  And she seems quite happy with this arrangement.  Anyway, they are house-rabbits having a very cosy set up in the 'under-stairs' area in the back-room.  I will add pics soon.  So I had cleaned them out and was picturing the nice big tick I was going to put against the somewhat tedious task...

Nowhere on my list did it say to have a medical disaster with the toe-nail.  My toe-nail.  It came into violent contact with the wall, don't ask me how?!?  I am a clumsy Egg most of the time and used to knocking my toes against the base of the settee, or wardrobe, etc... so I stifled my bad words and bitter annoyance, and continued to settle the bunnies with some food.

The trail of red dots is very pretty, but hubby will have to pick up some carpet cleaner.  I have surpassed my usual clumsiness and my productive day has come to a toe-throbbing halt.

Amigurumi

Based on Smiley Face pattern found at.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ47MLlrLzw
I have many hobbies.. one of which is amigurumi.  The above was my first creation, just about a year ago I suppose.  My plan was to build up a bit of a stock of different little guys, and spend one Sunday seeing if they would sell at a car boot sale.  Ha haa!!  Any 'stock' I built up very quickly disappeared - to my son's room, my daughter's and let's not forget my husband's office!! I'll show you my other creations some other time..

Below is, apparently, 'Clive'... my latest, and as his completion was so eagerly awaited and followed by all the household, he resides in the living room. No need to make space in my car boot just yet...!

Memorabilia

Hi, it's Wednesday already - nicely on the way to the weekend.  Have been spending some time this week reading through some letters that my Dad wrote to my Mum when they were courting some 50 years ago.  Having sadly lost both wonderful parents, I sometimes spend time just looking through things like diaries and other memorabilia.  However, this is the first time I have read through these letters and they are such a joy and comfort to read.  Mind you, my own peeps excluded, the letters do bring today's lack of decency, respect and loyalty in this world into sharp focus.

Reflections

On our tootles
Hello ~  When hubby was off work over Easter, we went on days out.  Have to say we were so lucky with the weather, it was gorgeous.  Anyway, we packed the car full of edible goodies (you know, yummy items that deviate completely from the diet) each morning and tootled around some very nice, quadcopter-friendly, areas.  During one of our tootles, some miles from home, we had stopped for a leg stretch and we noticed this reflection on a wall.  Obviously reflecting from an opposite window or something, but it caught our attention and fired a moment of intrigue.  I was surprised, therefore, to spy a very similar reflection yesterday.

During yesterday's manic wave session
Each morning when the children have left for the school bus, it is imperative to my wellbeing for the rest of the day, that I wave madly to them from the bathroom window.  This is at the back of the house, and it is from there that I spotted this similar reflection.  I'm sure it must be a common occurrence and someone reading this will say, well of course it's because so and so.. but for now I shall feel smug and special, and imagine that something, somewhere, has given me a sign about something.

New Bag

Here's the bag I bought at the weekend.  I love multicolours.. so the spots ensured I wasn't leaving it in the shop!

Soup-break

Hello, it's a bit late for lunch now .. so just having a mug of soup.   I find it annoying that no matter how viciously I stir, I know that there will be that clump of undissolved powder waving at me from the bottom of the mug.  Even when I use a fork.  Totes annoying.

A visit from my friend JJ was very welcome this morning.  An excuse to ignore the beeps from the washing machine demanding the next load.  Before she arrived I actually did some ironing.  My Mum's ironing pile used to have its own identity, lurking behind the bedroom door.  I don't 'do' ironing piles, well not to those dimensions anyway.  Item goes on a hanger until it's dry, then into the wardrobe.  Sorted.  Usually.

Text received from daughter Suzie, apparently there is a letter coming home from school re the trip.  It seems accommodation has now been booked...

And there it is.. waving from the bottom of the mug :-/

Humphrey Hamster

Humphrey
Just a quick "Hello" before Sunday tea.  This is Humphrey, my lovely hamster.  I have only had him for 3 weeks, but already there is such a bond and I am devoted!  He is my fourth.  First there was Smudge, then Koojie, then Chingu and now Humphrey.  Each one has evoked my highest level of adoration, and consequently heartbreak.  The emotion involved with losing Chingu before 12 months was immense.  I try to accept that to leave me so soon was Chingu's story...  but there were so many more playtimes and cuddles that should have been.   There are other beloved pets in our family that I will introduce later, but this is Humphrey - he's mine and I love him dearly!

Hi There!

"..Hello..!"

Sooo, what did we do today then??  After a good, prompt start to the day (everyone up and dressed without too much bother..) the discovery that the daily seagull issue is upon us once again, was rather annoying.  At this time of year they decide to nest on our chimney and poop on our cars.  Their choice of cars is made more annoying with the fact that the 'hand that feeds' parks lower down the street.   Anyhoo, hubby moved the bag of clothes that should have been taken to the clothes bank weeks ago, and we went to town in his car instead of mine.

Unfortunately for everyone, Egg had more energy today.  Egg is me.  A reference I have used in past diaries - something to do with 'Ego Sum' meaning 'I am' in Latin, but that's not important right now.    The main aim of the day was finding PJ's for 14yr old daughter.   A semi-organised school trip is looming.  I say semi-organised... accommodation still not confirmed for a bank holiday weekend that will be with us in 2 weeks.  Egg is trying to keep calm!  School trips are not good for the palpitations as it is.

Well we didn't find suitable nightwear.  It's going to be difficult to find anything that appeals to her more than her father's Brazil Worldcup t-shirt me thinks..

Rabbit food, hamster food and new handbag purchased, we moved on to the supermarket for the weekly shop.   It was down the final aisle where 16 year old son, in his boredom, decided to star-jump resulting in split jeans.  "Wag1??" as he says!

This evening hubby is cooking.  He cooks most evenings, but Saturday night is always a bit special.  I am a very spoilt Egg! (😶 that sounded so much better in my head!!)
