Gratitude

Pretty Bluebell on my wander round the garden this morning.  Have read that in the language of flowers they are a symbol of humility, constancy, gratitude and everlasting love.

Quote of The Day

Recently put a 'To Do' board up in the kitchen for Hubby's jobs list - to replace the easily misplaceable scrap of paper - he was so pleased!! 😆  Anyhoo, despite my strict instructions that it was to be used purely for said jobs list, I keep finding various drawings and quotes on there from both offspring.  This is Dan's most recent offering.

Pretty spot on I have to say!

William Demetrius Yucca

One Saturday morning back in 1985, my 19 year old self was helping my Mum with the weekly shopping.  We were in the local grocery store and I spotted that they were selling some plants, including little Yucca trees.   I chose one and lovingly carried it home - much to the amusement of my Mother, who was not convinced it was coming to the best plant-thriving situation. I basically did not have a good history of keeping plants alive!

I named him William Demetrius Yucca. (something to do with a film I was watching?!).

He grew well.  I even bought plant food and a special leaf-shining solution to keep him looking his best.  He began to sprout another branch.

A few years later however, the main trunk was not looking good.  I had no option but to remove the other branch in the hope that it would grow.

It did, so here is William still alive 37 years later!  Mum would be so proud (not to mention amazed!).

Recently I removed the young shoots in the hope that they will also grow into healthy plants.  I left them in water for a week or so...

Now they are in their own plant pots, I'll let you know how they get on!
