Get the kettle on..

Well Dan is on his way back to University after the half term week at home.  There are some older students on his course who have children, so they were allowed the week off.  He has been coming home at weekends anyway, but to have him around for the whole week has been great.  And his girlfriend too a lot of the time, so the nest has been full.  But now it isn't and this is the moment we need to move past, .. when the kettle goes on and Hubby gets busy with evening meal preparation.  Today daughter Suzie has had a very long dress rehearsal for the musical, we will collect her in an hour or so, and she will fill the house with her singing as she showers and washes the hairspray out of her hair.  But for now all is quiet and still.  I try not to think about how many hours will need to go by before I see Dan coming through the front door again.  We are so lucky that he is close enough to be home at weekends.  I can't think about next year.. the course Suzie wants will take her too far to travel back home very often.  How quiet the house will be.
